Black Lake is located in upstate New York, approximately 2 hours north of Syracuse. Black Lake is of glacial origin it is over 20 miles long and is about 4 miles across at its widest point. It has a maxium depth of just over 40 feet but most of the lake is much shallower than that. The lake supports the following species of fish, northern pike, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, muskellunge, crappies, yellow perch, bluegills, rock bass, carp, catfish and brown bullheads Water flows into the lake from several sources, the largest being the Indian River. The lake drains into the Oswegatchie River and then into the Saint Lawrence River. |
