New York's lakes and rivers provide some of the best bass fishing in the country and even those "Pro's" will agree. We have some of the most fertile lakes around and the bass just thrive in them. I generally will guide from Oneida Lake to Lake Erie chasing both Largemouth and Smallmouth bass. If its a Trophy Largemouth your after then Conesus and Honeyoye are your best chances. | Option Charters | Captain Bill Whitney |
|
| Cayuga Lake trips produce good catches of brown, rainbow, and lake trout and landlocked salmon. The spring of the year is best for surface fishing for landlocked salmon and brown trout. Planer boards and shallow running lures are used as the fish are seeking warmer waters. Late May and early June tend to be slower fishing. Mid-summer requires fishing depths of up to 125 feet. Electric downriggers with a variety of terminal tackle are used when the fish are holding in this deep water. Sonar and temperature probes are used to position the lures in water most likely to hold feeding fish. Good catches of rainbow and lake trout are obtained throughout the summer and fall. On any given day any combination of fish may be caught. |
