NY Fisherman

The Hudson River has fantastic spring fishing for spawning striped bass. Many of the large bass run upwards to 40 pounds or more with catches in the 25 to 30 pound range not uncommon

The Hudson River is 315 miles long and starts in the Adirondack Mountains and flows into the New York City Harbor. The Hudson River is tidal river and the tides can rise and fall 5 feet with the oceans tides. The New York State Barge Canal connects the Hudson with the Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Lake Champlain, and the St. Lawrence River.

The Hudson River was once a severely polluted river and almost devoid of life, but has had an amazing recovery over the last 30 years. The Hudson River is home to over 200 species of fish including the various anadromous fish. The following species of fish American shad, river herring, atlantic sturgeon, and striped bass are anadromous and will migrate up the Hudson River every year to spawn. These fish can go as far as the Federal Dam located in Troy. After spawning they will return to the Atlantic Ocean. The first year of shads, herrings, and striped bass lives are spent in the river before returning to the ocean. The outlook for the Hudson River is now very bright and is another American success story.

Hobo Charter's Captain Grant Scott
Phone 315-938-7236
Due to the Hudson River's vast size we use a 21' SeaSwirl Walk-Around. This allows comfort and speed to move to fishing areas where they might be schooled. It's completely outfitted with four Cannon downriggers. No fishing license is required on the Hudson River, the Hudson River is considered tidal water. A trophy-sized bass is considered as anything over 40 lbs., with a 50 lb fish cause for comment and a trip to the taxidermist. On the Hudson River, the daily limit is one fish and the minimum size is 18 inches. Striped Bass may be caught with live bloodworms or cut herring or eels, but I prefer to fish with artificial lures in order to reduce hooking mortality.

Mohawk River Fishing Guides

Monster Hunters Charters Captain Justin
Phone 518-892-6852
Later in the fall months of September through November we will be fishing for Muskie & Pike on the Mohawk River and will be docked at Albany Marine Service, 1395 New Loudon Road, Cohoes, NY 12047.ed just 2 min drive from Exit 8 I-787. One of our favorite species, to catch, is the Muskie or muskellunge. A challenging fish to catch, the muskie has been called "the fish of ten thousand casts" as we have found out first hand! After spending many years hunting these spectacular fish we prefer to take the cover more water with as many options as possible approach and now exclusively troll for these fish. While we prefer to catch Muskie's the fishing Gods bless us with many trophy size Norther Pike as a conciliation prize of hunting these elusive predators. NY DEC have stocked these fish up and down the Mohawk river over the years. In our opinion, they are one of the most overlooked trophy fish in New York State and pound for pound the most memorable to catch. If these toothy critters get your blood pumping like they do ours then come join us and catch a monster today..
