Lake George is located approximately 50 miles north of Albany, NY. in the Adirondack Mountains. The lake is 32 miles in length, and has a maximum depth of around 200 feet. The lake is 1 to 3 miles wide in places and has close to 200 islands of various sizes. Lake George provides fishing opportunities for the following species of fish. lake trout, landlocked salmon, rainbow trout, northern pike, largemouth, smallmouth bass, and a variety of panfish. At one point Lake George held the NY state record for Landlocked Atlantic Salmon at 19 pounds. But that record is now held by Mike Dandino who caught an Atlantic Salmon of 24 pounds and 15 ounces on April 5, 1997 from Lake Ontario. |
