The Great Sacandaga Lake is the largest man made body of water in New York State. It is 29 miles long, has an average depth of 40 feet and a maximum depth of 90 feet at the Conkingville Dam. At one point the lake is nearly 5 miles wide. The NY State record Northern Pike was caught here on September 15, 1940 by Peter Dubuc. This amazing fish weighed in at 46 pounds and 2 ounces. NY State stocks the lake with walleyes every year.
