Fishing with Rodmaster Charters out of Irondequoit Bay

Irondequoit Bay is a large bay on the southern shore of Lake Ontario located in Rochester, New York. The Bay is four miles long and approximately 1/2 mile wide. The maxium depth of the Bay is just under 75 feet. Irondequoit Bay offers fishing for perch, bluegill, bullhead, carp, trout, walleye, northern pike and largemouth bass. The bay itself can be a nice diversion on the days when Lake Ontario is too rough to venture out into.

Irondequoit Creek begins in Mendon, NY and flows northward through Ontario and Monroe counties 34 miles before emptying into Irondequoit Bay. Irondequoit Creek is a fantastic steelhead stream. Being a tribuatary of lake ontario it is subject to recieve large runs of spawning steelhead. Since this area receives a large amount of lake effect snow any warming trend in the winter can raise water levels and trigger fresh runs of fish. Although it has only a small amount of Public Fishing Rights purchased by the DEC, numerous city, town and county parks offer additional access sites on Irondequoit Creek.
