Captain Steve Coby was fishing the Hudson River in late April with his good friend Tom Romanowski. They were anchored on a hump that had produced many tournament winning fish in the past. With only about a hour remaining on the incoming tide and a slow bite they had a tough decision to make. Should they pull up the lines and make a move to another spot or continue to work hard where they had already spent so much precious time.
With hours already invested fishing in this area and the fact there had been no boat traffic in the vicinity they decided to stay put. Another 40 minutes passed and time was quickly running out on a productive tide. Then all the sudden the reel with a live herring started screaming! A long battle ensued and the fanatstic striped bass was hoisted into the boat. It was a beauty weighing in at 50 pounds and 4 ounces.
